The Chinese language is spoken by the largest number of people in the wrold,
the 21st century is going to be the China's century,
so you Japanese should learn the Chinese language!!

May I join?

I think it will actually be the century of India. China's population
will become unbalanced in gender, with many more males than females because of
the Chinese killing their female babies because of the one child poilcy.
India will keep growing though, and become superior to China.

Why is the guy drinking poor tasting tea in the title of this thread?

It's the only tea he has available at the moment.

Is "旦" a tea cup?

I assume so.

I think so
the word 日 is a cup while the line below it is the plate

Yeah, that seems to make sense. In that case, I think this is better.

He didn't creat the horrific AA on purpose. He got through
enough of hard time. If you are hard on him any longer,
he will lose grip on himself and so go crazy.

Well, sorry if I offended you. Where exactly did you get the idea
that attempting to sound like a hick from the Southern US was a good
idea? FYI, the word "y'all" is only used in AAVE and Southern dialects,
so you might not want to use it if you don't want to appear to be
a speaker of one of those dialects.

Let me fix that for you.

"Well, is it true that there's a beetle living in President Bush's head?"

Anyway, I don't know. I've never heard anything about one living
in his head, so I doubt it, though.

You're more of a moron than I thought. Anyway, this is also correct.

"Well, is it true there's a beetle living in President Bush's head?"

I just thought "is it true that" sounded better. Anyway, what you
posted still wasn't correct. The problem had nothing to do with
you not using the word "that". Try again.

First, corrections...

"what makes you are interesed in japan"→"what makes you interested in Japan"

"game"→"games" if you mean games in general, or "a game" if you mean a specific one

"japanese porn star"→"a japanese porn star"

Now that that's out of the way... Why does it matter why I'm posting
here?

Pieceful scenes of Nanjing after Japanese Occupation

The Truth of The Nanjing of 1937.12 - 1938.2 (1)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq1ZEdp9-VM

What really happened in Nanjing after Japan's
occupation in December 1937? "Massacre of 300 thousand
Chinese" as the Chinese Government claims?

You can watch some scenes in the following web page;
lives of Chinese people, including children having food,
as well as Japanese soldiers restoring the city.

Can these scenes possible if the "massacre of 300
thousand" actually took place?

Not until she won a gold medal did I learn about her. As we

around Kantou plain. People got sweating walking around. I couldn't
believe why, but somewhere in Tokyo it reached 30 degree celsious,
while it was only 24 in Okinawa. I heard that it was a record.
But yersterday the temparature in Tokyo went considerablly down.

This thread is for those who want to have fun chatting.
If you want someone to teach some English, then you should
go soon.

Do you know about Mr Shit? He often appeared here talking cheerfully and merrily.
I've never met anyone really kind to other people. I wish he would come back.

I'm not sure. Everything comes and goes. Not a thing stays the same.
To put it another way, he, sure, may have come here to talk with you,
but you shouldn't feel sad even if he never pays a visit here.
In fact, some people might feel sad when it turned out that K-tan
seemed to decide on leaving the thread, but they never mentioned
her name. So get over him. Forget him. That's best.

What's Ebonics? Well, anyway, there is the "language" board in 2ch.

Ebonics is the language that ghetto African Americans speak. It is
very similar to English.

For example:
ENGLISH - "He is working."
EBONICS - "He be workin'."

As for Japan, aliens from Area 51 once appeared on a TV commercial.

an Osaka dialect.

Planet Korin exists in the universe.

>>380
What are you basing your belief on? We you have read in books or
seen on TV? Do you think that is wise?
Should an open minded person consider how incomprehensibly vast
the universe is, and the fact we humans can only sense less than
1% of what is actually in the same room as us, they would probably
conclude that the are countless living things outside the earth,
and probably many more as yet undiscovered creatures both on it
and inside it.

>>382
The God created the universe and designed the world we're on.
He put us human beings here on the earth and many other creatures,
while he didn't on any other planet. Aliens are things human beings
generated from their false belief that there must be life somewhere
in the outerspace. I'm under the impression, however, that considering
there may be aliens is a horrible idea against the God himself.

According to the newspaper I have in hand, Murakami Fund has taken a new stand
against Hanshin dentetsu. Murakami Yoshiaki is trying to take over the parent company
of Hanshin Tigers, Japan's hottest baseball team. The fans of the team were once relieved
to hear Murakami deny he managed Tigers. But it's anybody's guess what will happen next
because he seemed to change his mind.

Some economic professionals suspect Murakami is just threatening board members of Hanshin Dentetsu,
because all he may want to do is sell the stocks he bought at as high price as possible.
And I think they are right. Murakami Fund doesn't have what it takes to manage companies
and he has never tried to provoke Hanshin Tigers' fans so far. As a matter of fact, when
he gained a large number of shares of Hanshin stock, He was very deferential to the fan in question.
The problem here is, if both of the companies can't meet halfway,
the ones who will suffer are the fans. That is the big problem to be solved.
Worst, they will march on the street and go to extremes.

What I said was "I can speak Spanish."

yo = I
poder = to be able
hablar = to speak
español = Spanish

"puedo" is the first-person singular form of "poder".
In Spanish, verbs have to be conjugated for person and number.

.............Singular Plural
1st Person puedo.....podemos
2nd Person puedes....podeís
3rd Person puede.....pueden

People say Japanese people don't speak English because they haven't
developed the brain by which they are supposed to understand/use English.

>>526
I think it depends. When you're younger, it's easier to learn languages. So you can teach an English kid Japanese and vice versa.

>>527
>So you can teach an English kid Japanese and vice versa.
What do you mean?

>When you're younger, it's easier to learn languages
Of course, it's likely that even Japanese children can learn English more easily.
That's not the point here, is it?
What I wanted to ask about is: People say once developed, English brain can
enable you to manipulate English like native speakers. From what I saw in an ad,
someone said, "I've been listening to English for several month,
and the other day I woke up to find myself very fluent in English!".
And word of mouth has come to say that there must be English brain.
But I doubt that. Even if you can make progress day by day, little by little,
you might not want to believe you can become a good English speaker in a flash.

So I asked you if you are a believer of English brain.

I believe English brain exists because English speaking people speak
English.

>>529
I'll tell you what. If English-speaking people with no comand of Japanese
start to learn the language after coming of age, do you still think they

>>530
So you aren't from Japan?

I know what you mean, though I don't understand French..
I wish I was taught English when I was a kid...
As you may know, we usually start English at the age of 12/13, I mean,
after getting into Jr high under the current compulsory education at that time.

Ah, if I'm not mistaken, do you come from Canada?

Thanks. You flatter me.
But to tell you the truth, I don't speak English very well,
my English is strictly limited and with strong Japanese accent.
I often feel down when I can't put into words what I want to say.
But the biggest problem is that I have hard time catching what English
people say and talking back to them soon. It's completely different
from online chatting.

But now things has become different. Even where I live(suburban areas),

speaking communities are there walking.

Just out of curiosity, but how is the weather like in Canada?

but weather in Canada doesn't make worldwide news, does it?

It gets chilly and rains constantly in winter, that's about it.

Speaking of earthquakes, it's said that a huge earthquake is
supposed to hit Tokyo.. If I remember right, the committee of
seismic research or whatever the name is, officially stated
that there's a big prospect of it perhaps in 30 years.
And just two days ago, a somewhat big one happened where I am.

Even to me, too hot.
But instead, we can enjoy summer season.
Fireworks displays are taken place in late July and August.
Some girls wear Yukata, or traditional Japanese clothes like, say,
the lighter version of Kimono to go watch them.
What's more, there aren't more to life than drinking beer in summer.

To put that away, I guess the temperature in Canada is almost like that of
Hokkaido(situated in the north of Japan)

We have a fireworks competition in late July / early August, it goes on for several days. It's called the Celebration of Light.
Thousands crowd the beaches and fireworks displays are set off from the bay. Every day is a different country's performance.
Most people don't dress up, but you can spot girls in Yukatas here and there.

It was a little over 20C around Ontario, Canada.

Yeah, you're right. If I fly to Canada, I'll make it in summer.

By the way, if you don't like to teach Japanese people the English language,
I think there are a lot of teaching jobs. And if you are worried about
health insurance or the pention system in Japan, feel free to ask me.
I'm an expert, so to say.

Thanks.
Yeah I'm not cut out for teaching unfortunately.
I'm a software engineer. Specifically, I make games.
There seem to be a few game studios in Japan that are willing to hire foreigners.
With full immersion I think it will be easier to become certified to a level where I can work at most game studios in Japan.

Although we also have fireworks, I'm sure the atmosphere is different in Japan.
The fireworks displays here are more like an entertainment show than anything cultural or spiritual.

Oh, are you? I sometimes enjoy overseas games, I mean, amature

they help me learn English. Interesting.
I hope you apply for and get a potition here.

I'm not an agent who ask English people to come and teach in Japan,
but one of my dreams is to help such people out in terms of social benefits
and working conditions when they come here.

People say Maki is an angel, as much as to say she's different from us,
but they are wrong. She's just a girl.
Just to clarify, I won't ask her out, but I think I'll accept her

I walked in front of the fridge and bent down to take out a pack of
frozen prepared food, then put it into a microwave and heated it.
3 minutes later, I took out the pack and cut it to put the food
on a plate before starting to eat it. It was a kind of cooked rice
with a piece of chicken and some vegetables in it. It was good.
Still, I need one more pack to satisfy my stomach.

but that was the last one in the fridge.
I just through few peaces of ice in my mouth instead.

Ramen is one of my favorite foods. I can't resist its temptation
when I pass a ramen place. In most cases when I'm hungry, I stop in
it and tell the master chef to work on one with soy sauce flavored soup.
I prefer to order a small bowl of rice at the same time so that I put
some of the soup on it and eat. Some people don't do the same as I do.
But you should wrap some soy-sauce-souped rice with seaweed using chopsticks.
You should be surprised how good it taste. Believe me. Give it a go.
I can assure you that you can really enjoy it.

Do you think females look appealing when they run their fingers through their hair to
in case their bang is into the soup?

that sounds very tasty.
Now I feel the same temptation
as you feel in front of that kind of shop.
I can imagine flavorous black liquid
being poured on white rice.
My mouth is watered.
I can't wait till the shop open.

Are you a good cook? As for me, I don't cook well. All I can do is
heat prepared food, fry eggs and rice, or boil some kind of pasta(including Ramen).
I sometimes dream of becoming a good cook and host my family with my great food,
but it needs great training I can't get through.

Kouki has a big mouth no one can neglect. Everyone expects him to say something funny and disdainful
when he opens him mouth to speak. Usually, his attitude toward his opponents must be considered rude and impolite
but everytime he has fulfilled his promises he made before matches, people came to believe in him.
All the things he says will be done. That's why people accept his way of behaving.
Now that he have had exclusive seats for women only prepared where he fights, more and
more females are really interested in him and stand behind him. There's no denying female
idols have great interest in him, too.

>>731
You were unaware of that before going there? o.O
Strange.. I've always taken the bit about most
Japanese people working hard to not impose on
other people's space for granted, since that's
one of the first things I got to know about it.
Well, at least especially in the more tightly packed
areas. It's one of the elements in Japan that many
foreigners see as stereotype for it.

random possibly interesting linkage if anyone is interested:
http://konstantin2005.blogspot.com/2005/09/how-to-drink-vodka-and-stay-sober.html
Not that most people here should attempt that. Especially not if one has genes
that will make sure to take one out as quick as possible.

And now I run off again. Ah well..

>>731
I tell you why,
because we, Japanese, don't talk to strangers
nor smile at strangers in our everyday life!
We are all cold-blooded non-humanlike beings in this dog-eat-dog world!
You don't realize that unless you look/sound/act 100% Japanese!
We are cruel to our people and way nicer to whites!

since you guys don't seem to have one in real life, huh?

You should abondon the idea that people are friendly to each other.
To put it another way, they are really indifferent to,
don't want anything to do with, and talk to, total strangers.
Of course, I'm talking about those who live in urban areas.
A bunch of people from rural areas have rushed to come to Tokyo,
stayed there, and as a result changed the social environment of the past.
There used to be kind and friendly people. But these are the days.

What's the name of that soft drink.. pockary sweat? That's supposed
to be good too, according to what I've heard. I suggested water on top
of the coffee in order to keep you hydrated enough, especially as
coffee dehydrates. It usually is good to keep oneself not dehydrated when
one is sick.

Pocari Sweat. That's a bizarre name, is it not?
I learned a tip for taking a nap, you know.
Have a cup of coffee right before you take a nap,
and in about thirty minutes you will wake up miraculously sober and fine.
That's because caffeine takes effect in approximately thirty minutes.

Hehh.. Pockari Sweat is a bizarre name indeed, though I don't like caffeine
naps myself. But perhaps it is because of my extensive experience with
caffeine. If there's something I've learned, it is that sleep and caffeine
do not mix.
For me it works much better to just take a nap, and then when I
wake up sip on some ice-cold water, or orange juice (preferably with ice),
and perhaps some coffee after that.

1) I always try to formulate my sentances as clearly as possible here.
2) When I'm tired and in mixed company I usually try to make sure no
significant misunderstandments bound to pop up.
3) I'm reading The Great Gatsby this very minute (it's a school assignment),

Unfortunately I haven't read those books yet.
So far The Great Gatsby leaves me unimpressed. I think the main reason
for why it's so loved is because it's easy to interprent it in different
ways, as well as it dealing with classical and timeless subjects.
And my impression (from what I've heard about the book) is that
Nick really seems utterly smitten with Gatsby, in a nonsexual manner.
He seems to be in love with the idea of the existence of people who can feel like him.

Sinner rider, rides in with the storm
The devil rides beside him
The devil is his god, God help you mourn
Do you, do you hear it, do you hear the thunder
Deafen every living thing about
Can you, can you see it, can you
See the mountains darken yonder
Black sun rising, time is running out

Sacrifice to vice or die by the hand of the
Sinner!
Sinner!
Sinner!
Sinner!

His steed of fury,
Eyes of fire and mane ablaze
Demonic vultures stalking
Drawn by the smell of war and pain
He roams the starways
Searching for the carcasses of war
But if it's hungry then its very presence
Disrupts the calm into the storm

Curse and damn you all you'll fall by the hand of the
Sinner!
Sinner!
Sinner!
Sinner!

God of the Devils, God of the Devils
Is there no other way

Can't you hear their souls calling out in their plight
Can't you see their blood is boiling setting them alight

Thirty years now sleeping, so sound
War raises its head, and looks slowly around
The Sinner is near, sensing the fear
And the beast will start movin' around

Can't you see their souls calling out in their brain
Can't you hear their blood is boiling setting them alight

...Sinner, Sinner, Sinner, Sinner!
Sinner!
Sinner!
Sinner!

Sacrifice to vice or die by the hand of the
Curse and damn you all you fall by the hand of the

Enfolds me in thine sylvan arms
that unity's vehement charms
befalls a weary son of Earth

Beautiful, in tears bereaved
in sylphlike sadness, left to bleed
Bewailed upon a bed of thorns,
impaled, a heart, on sorrow's horns
A seeker's ode to thee I read
My tearful soul thy mourning heed

The stream that leaves thine open wounds;
A life-blood licked by hungry hounds
No verdant balm to soothe our wounds
Wherefore betwixt two worlds I'm torn
Ere thralled by sin I'll die - forlorn

To the earth and sky and sea
I call that thou may answer me;
Father of Nature, of beast and mankind,
my soul for thy love, my tears for thy pain
...An Eden in fire,
what lives shan't remain

For when I live under a different sky,
beneath the ethereal hills the clouds passing by
Remember the time of which I cried to be part
Remember these words, for they have flown

Let's build on the collective knowledge of the people we have here
and bring a whole new peaceful life to the English board.

Do you think the next thread should be built?
In my opinion, we should put this thread into several specific themes
like sports/music/politics and what have you. Why do we have only "chatting" threads?
It's too general.

No, I don't think so.

Why not?

>>911
No one wants to talk about specific themes, you know.
We just like to say good morning and chat about general stuff.
It's easier to say, "we need to specificaly talk about something", but
just creat a new thread that appeals to a number of people and retain them.
Of course, a newly built thread always seems to be coming along fine at first.
But I have never seen such a thread continue to be successful.
People in it soon get bored and realise they shouldn't have done that.
So I will never stand behind your proposal.

>>912
I see what you mean. But you missed a big point there.
Off the top of my head, we have never had a sports/music/politics
thread so far. I mean, we may have had a bit more specific themed threads like
"discussion in English" and "dirty talk in English" or whatever.
And as you said they were no goog. Still, we haven't yet tried to focus on
specific things as I pointed out. So it might be a good idea to give it a try.
Allow me to take another example, there are many anime fans abroad around the world and
they have webpages. I think if they know they can talk about Japanese subcultures
here in the biggest Japanese message board, they will be here to stay.
And you can't deny there must be a lot of sports maniac all over the world.
There's no point staying the same. We should make good progress.
Creating many kinds of threads in which we can communicate in English
is the only way to keep this board vital and popular.

I'm afraid I have the impression that you are wrong.
As things stand, sure, this general thread is sort of active
and that's the reason people say "hi, how are you?" and
take extra time to know what should be discussed here. That is,
time is running out and end the superficial conversation.
If specific themed threads will be set up, they can talk
about what they want soon. No need to use up time.
You know that.

ENGLISH board on 2ch is for discussions on the Engish language itself
which inevitably leads this board to be occupied by the learners of English in Japan.
If you really want English discussion forums that any English speakers around the world can participate,
the first thing to do would be to make the world know about 2ch.
And then ask the management to set up an International Board.

The following considerations assume that there are systems. Thus
they do not begin with epistemological doubt. They also do not
advocate a“purely analytical relevance”for systems theory. The
most narrow interpretation of systems theory as a mere method of
analyzing reality is deliberately avoided. Of course, one must
never confuse statements with their objects; one must realize that
statements are only statements and that scientific statements are
only scientific statements. But, at least in systems theory, they
refer to the real world. Thus the concept of system refers to something
that is in reality a system and thereby incurs the responsibility
of testing its statements against reality.

but most of anonymous posts are only about temporary topics, not long-term themes.
It would be difficut and confusing to discuss about certain topic not knowing who said what

This is why I think anonymity is not a good factor when you want to have deep discussions or

discussion, we sometimes go out of the main topic of a thread.
But still, it'd be more like 2ch, don't you think?

Let me put aside mayhem things for now,
and talk about contiuity of statements. If you want to prove yourself
as the same poster after you respond to someone, then you can put your
name in the name box. And contrary to this general thread, in a specific
themed thread gather people who want to discuss/talk about the theme.
So you don't have to suggest what should be discussed between casual
aquaintances. You can soon enjoy talking about the topic in question.

In the first place, you don't need to talk back to specific posters.
That's 2ch. Let's say, people discuss something like this in other thread in 2ch.

You are right. That is a challenge. Most of people who visit the board
have interest in English. English is a thing we have in common.
But at the same time, you happen to meet someone who have the same taste
as yours, but after the short conversation, there are not chances you can
meet him/her again. In the unlikely event the person comes back here again,
you cannot always talk to him again. Finally, you give up.
That's a shame.

But if we have built a thread for a specific theme, it's more likely
that you can meet them again. That's worth a try.

So it might be wise to look into what's hot among us.
If we creat a thread for an unpopular topic, it will go inactive
and deserted soon. What do you think?

This is one thread for specific topic. Ha ha ha.

( ,_ノ` )y━・~~~ Well, to be perfectly candid with you mister Ambassador,
I don't think your plan will work out too well.
Even though we make threads for specific themes, they are bloody likely to
be buried in other countless Japanese-speaking threads of miscellaneous subjects.
You need at least one board specially built for English-only postings.
This is what I suppose mister President.

974 : ◆Hell/6W/Cs :2006/05/07(日) 22:14:45
We have 713 threads on ENGLISH board already.

1 Have a firm grip on the stick.
2 Move the closed hand quickly back and forth.
3 After a while, you see a shot of white liquid comes out.
4 Wipe it off using some tissues.
